2-09-10 Access granted, 15 Years Of Making Records, 2010 is here and records are rolling! I'm pleased to announce that I am once again able to update my website. There have been some technical issues here over the past few months that have denied me access to my site for updating. Everything is back and rolling again so I'm stoked on that.
2010 is here and this year marks the 15 year anniversary of my studio, Portrait Recording Studios. It honestly feels like yesterday that I started the studio in my parents garage as a place for my band at the time to record some music. What started as a garage with a couple of small rooms in it has expanded twice over the last 15 years and turned into a major commercial facility in NJ. I couldn't be more proud and pleased to see how far we've come and I can't thank all the loyal and amazing clients I've had over the years! I'm here because of you! Thank you!
So far this year has kicked right into gear for me. Here is the latest I'll be working on over the next few months:
Silent Ships - P/E/M Leah LeGrace - P/E/M/co-writing Trophy Scars - P/E/M
Finally, if you haven't had a chance already please pick up the new Jeff Kummer record "Your Best Alternative." This album will blow you away! Jeff impressed me more than ever when we were working on this and I truly feel you all will love this. You can buy it on itunes or a physical copy here: http://www.smartpunk.com/jeff-kummer-your-best-alternative.html?SID=50379db36761eb054ed8f4d2e9cd0d6b
9-15-09 I can't believe summer is here and gone. It's been a busy one! Crazy! Here's what's been going down these past few months:

7-05-09 Sorry for the lack of updates. Lots going on. Here's a brief synopsis of the past few months and what's happening now:
Spacepimps - Great band and great record! If you are Blink 182 fans you have to check this band out. I just finished mixing the final 6 tracks on the album in May. The record should be released this fall. Super catchy pop/punk! Until then, you can check them out on Warped Tour this year!
Reality Stricken - Another solid band with a huge sound! Just finished up an EP for these guys. Definitely worth checking out! You won't be dissappointed. The EP should be out in the next couple of months.
Silent Ships - I currently working on this band Silent Ships from CA. Just starting it up and it looks like it's going to be a great one!
Jeff Kummer - In May I started working on the debut Jeff Kummer solo record! I think everyone who knows Jeff and has been a fan of his previous bands will love this record. He's bringing the rock and all the songs are super catchy. He'll be heading back in with me in August to wrap it up. I'm really stoked on this!
That's it for now. I'll try and update again soon.
On a sad note...I know everyone has been talking about it but I still can not believe we have lost Michael Jackson. This honestly has hit me harder than I ever could have imagined. Whether you like his stuff or not he was such an inovator and really pushed the envelop in this industry in so many ways. He strived for the best and it's just sad to see a legend like that leave us. His records are truly timesless! R.I.P. MJ!

12-14-07 Happy Holidays! I can't believe the holidays are here. It was an amazing year for me and I want to thank all the bands that worked with me this year and made amazing records. Here is the latest:
Crash Romeo: Just finished mixing the new Crash Romeo record. It is out to mastering and soon will hit shelves. What a great record! I can't wait for everyone to hear it. It is definitely their best work and I think it is going to be a great year for them next year. Be sure to check them out for updates on the record release date. Right now it is slated for March 2008 on Trustkill Records.
Ace Enders And A Million Different People: I just started working on a new single for Ace which is going to be really special. All the proceeds from the single will go to VH1's Save The Music Foundation. So, this is really going to be great. I also had the pleasure of playing drums and piano on the song to. Really excited about this and it should hopefully be out for spring of next year.
That's about it now for me. The year is winding down and it's time to relax and enjoy the holidays with friends and family. 2008 is going to be a great year. I will have some really big announcements in the beginning of next year about upcoming events and projects. Until then, I wish you all happy holidays and a safe and happy new year.
11-02-07 Lots of stuff going on right now.
Your Sweet Uncertainty (Formerly Grace Period): Just got the stuff back from mastering and it sounds sick! You can pre-order this cd right now here. You should all buy it and support these guys.
Crash Romeo: I am almost done tracking the new Crash Romeo full lengths. What a record! These guys have totally stepped it up since the last record. Crazy hooks and melodies on this record. If you liked their last album then you are going to be blown away by this one. The record should be mixed and ready to go by the beginning of December.
Management - Some of you may have noticed that in the contact section I now have a management company listed. I am pleased to announce that I will be working with Nettwerk Producer Management from here on out. They are a great company and super nice people. So, all new producing, engineering and mixing inquiries please contact them for my availability and scheduling.
9-11-07 Here's a quick update:
Rosematter - The new Rosematter matter just came back from mastering! This record is great and I can't wait for everyone to hear it. Sc ott Hull did a sick job on the mastering. Make sure you pick it up on November 6th out on Lobster Records.
The Early November - I just finished mixing the final two Early November shows from the Trocadero in Philadelphia. What a great bunch of shows and being there was just that much better! I definitely wanted to capture how great they sounded that night and the emotion of the show. So, what you hear on that DVD is exactly what happened that night. I didn't go crazy fixing things and the band did not come in for overdubs. It's all real! They played amazing and it was defintely the best I had ever seen and heard them. The DVD should be released sometime next year.
Currently, I'm finishing up the Grace Period record and then after that I start the new Crash Romeo record for Trustkill. Should be a nice fall season! Can't wait!
7-21-07 Man it's been a while! I'm currently working on the Grace Period record (Jeff from The Early Novembers new project). I'm so stoked on this record right now! I can't wait for everyone to hear it! Check out their myspace for some videos.
4-28-07 As usual, life is crazy busy! Here's a quick recap of this year so far.
Pete Nischt (Regular Music) - Finished tracking and mixing in January/February. The record is mastered and ready to go. If you love singer/ songwriters he's just amazing! The record as of now has June release date so pick it up when it comes out.
Desoto Jones (Negative Progression) - Rock and Roll!!!! To say the least! What a great rock band with killer melodies and musicianship. Man I had a great time making this record with these guys! They are definitely one of NJ's best kept secrets. I worked on this through mid February to the end of March. The record is set for a fall release.
Rosematter (Lobster Records) - I'm currently working on the debut record for the band Rosematter for Lobster Records. This band is great! Super catchy! The album is set for a late summer release as of now.
In other news...I also had the pleasure of going to the final two Early November hometown (Phili, PA) shows at the Trocadero and putting them to tape. What a place to be! The shows were great and it brings tears to my eyes to see the band ending right now. I'll soon be mixing the audio for a DVD release sometime in the future.
That's about it for now. I'll try and get back soon with some more updates.
